DEN-S is brought to you by the GP Task Force, Derbyshire in association with the Chesterfield GPST Training Scheme.
Dr Ruth Dils
I’ve been a doctor for over twenty years and a GP in Derbyshire since 2005. In that time I’ve worked as a salaried GP in a rural practice, been a partner in a deprived urban one, a locum (back at the rural practice), and following a life-changing skiing accident last year, I’m back as a salaried doctor again.
I was a trainer for many years, and enjoy (small group) teaching, and being taught.
I’ve been a member of the Derbyshire LMC since 2009, so understand how difficult it can be to enjoy work and feel valued as a GP in the current climate.
I’m immensely proud to have been asked to help run the group as Ilona starts to step down. I’m new to chairing meetings-please be patient. I’m on more familiar territory networking during the tea break; please come and introduce yourself. It’s more important than ever that we don’t feel isolated at work, so whilst the group is primarily educational, coming along will enable you to meet lots of other GPs, and hopefully feel more supported.
Dr Susie Bayley
I qualified as a GP in 2010. Having always been passionate about General Practice, I became quite concerned by growing workload, and lack of control, and I developed a a keen interest in medical politics. This led me to become Chair of, the online group: GP Survival (2015-16) and subsequently a Partner in the peer support and education group Resilient GP. I then felt I wanted to make a change locally and became Head of Communications for both the DDLMC and the GP Task Force in 2016.
I have recently moved from Partnership to locum working, and have a particular interest in making sure sessional GPs are properly supported. I look forward to building this role in South Derbyshire.
Dr Ilona Bendefy and Sarah Bradley
The current team owe a huge debt of gratitude to Ilona and Sarah for their tireless work in starting the original DerbyshireCPD sessional education group in Chesterfield. Working on a shoestring budget with nothing but a passion for looking after GPs they managed to create a supportive network that continues to this day. Thank you both.
